SAT students are encouraged to do well, but when they put in their own work it looks like they have no idea what they are doing. This article will discuss some of the many problems with the essay sample.The first issue with the essay sample is that it is rather generic. Because there are no real sections, but only a few single sentences, students don't know what questions will be coming and what questions to answer. It is essentially impossible to make sense of a question like this one, which asks you to describe the value of your experience using the Word file.It seems fairly pointless to answer, but it does ask you to describe your experience, and so students should respond with something that connects. Students who can't seem to figure out how to start their essay may find this to be difficult. However, if the student looks at the sample closely, they will see that the essay questions are specifically structured in a way that makes it easy to know what to answer.A second problem with the essay sample is that it asks students to research, but doesn't really explain why this is necessary. Unfortunately, this has nothing to do with the quality of the test itself. You may also worry about being harassed by the other students in your group, but the essay is just as likely to be a student's personal essay as it is to be their group project.Perhaps the most telling aspect of the SAT essay sample is the student response. To their credit, students do seem to take the time to write a truly interesting response. However, when the student response is written by an instructor, the essay becomes indistinguishable from the one students were given for the semester. It takes the student out of the moment and into the realm of teacher and student.Overall, the SAT essay question sample is confusing, and quite fr ankly, it's annoying. Taking the SAT is an incredibly hard test, and to pass it, students will need to have a great deal of confidence. In an essay, the student needs to feel that he or she has complete control over his or her performance, and that an experienced instructor will be able to help the student create a truly wonderful essay.
